Come along on Monday May 23 to hear me and composer David John Lang play Decidous, a concert of autumnal piano music in the beautiful surrounds of heritage-listed Urrbrae House. The program includes one of our favourite piano duets, Franz Schubert's Fantasie in F minor. It's a real adventure both to listen to and to play, by turns thoughtful and bracing, sprite-like and stately. We will also showcase David's own composition Waffles for Breakfast, a delightful and delight-filled whirl which recalls a particularly memorable morning in the Adelaide Hills. Waffles will be making its world premiere appearance in this new piano duet form, and we'd love you to hear it! ![]() I'm also really excited to be playing some selections from the work of Hooper Brewster-Jones, a little-known Adelaide composer from the first half of the 20th century. He wrote the Bird Call Impressions, a collection of 73 short piano pieces, based on the calls and behaviours of local birdlife. As a longtime bird nerd myself, I'm fascinated by his musical interpretations of these quirky characters! All this and more will be on the program. Places are limited and online booking is essential so we can keep track of numbers. If you'd like to come, it would be a good idea to book your tickets here as soon as possible. See you there? :)
